I kinda like the multiple names. Most of the recycled names are for early or mid-level items that are VERY rare in max form. If makes it cool to have a max white scythe or a max butterfly rather than a hand axe or a wingblade sword; although not many people would appreciate the distinction.

In the classic pug “I wielding a victo’s blade” culture, having a cool named weapon could get you more ooo’s and ahh’s than a cool skin ever would.

I would ask though those with Factions only when fineshed go out and buy Prophecies or at the same time.NcSoft is still selling Prophecies so why not do some fineshing up on it like add all Greens to all Bosses from Ascalon to Hells Precipice.I would ask you what do we want if they were willing to listen which would be nice if they did more often?I would have to say that for the most part we all prefer to play in Tyria.

Truth be told, I'm ambivalent about the "same skin, different name" issue, but a lot of the supposed 'arguments' in this thread make my head hurt.

The only issue that needed to be addressed was whether the lack of different skins for weapons with different names is actually a deficiency. Most of you either a) completely ignored this issue, or b) posted your own stories about how it 'makes sense' from a lore standpoint.

Those of you that said Anet didn't have the resources to make the change actually admit implicitly that a change is needed, because if the change wasn't needed, then there is no reason to defend Anet's inaction. Your case is further weakened by the fact that Anet clearly had the resources to add new skins to Factions.

Those of you that said Anet shouldn't fix the problem because Prophecies is an old chapter also similarly admit that a problem indeed exists. The analogy to Windows is flawed, because Prophecies, Factions, and (I assume) later chapters do have some degree of integration, whereas different versions of Windows do not. The analogy is further flawed because later versions of Windows are considered replacement upgrades in the sense that they perform the same functions as earlier versions, but do so in an improved fashion. There is little reason, for instance, to run Windows 3.1 next to WindowsXP, whereas many Guild Wars players do own both Prophecies and Factions and take advantage of content from both campaigns with the same characters.

Whether this is a minor issue or not is irrelevant, because being a minor issue does not preclude that issue from being addressed. Example: you can claim that spelling errors are a minor issue, and many people might even agree with you, but spelling errors are still fixed.

I'd also like to point out that referring to something as "half-baked" does *not* mean that something is literally half done. The phrase simply means that something is generally incomplete or lacking in sense. Several of you seemed to miss this distinction, and made yourselves look like fools as a result when you exaggerated the OP's claims.

I dont think thats the issue at all. I think Yun's complaint comes from that whole "they promised but didnt deliver" sense. That these are placeholder weapons for other weapons and its "unfinished" (hence his comparison to 15k Tormentors armor).

The multiple weapon name is a cheap way to make more weapon types. Its annoying at the most but it doesnt make your gameplay less functional. But this is very different from a mistake, like a spelling error, or a glitch that causes your missions to fail.

I don't want this to actually degenerate into arguing about what the real argument was (lol?), but the issue you state is dependant on, or a rewording of, the original issue I claim (which I gathered from the first post). Basically, in order for the issue you state to be meaningful, you have to first establish that there was even a problem that Anet promised to fix.

Furthermore, the OP states later (and was quoted several times for this), that *even if the promise was fake*, there would still be an issue - namely, the game being incomplete due to weapons not having different skins.

And *this* is exactly what I think is the issue (and what I stated in my other post) - is the lack of skins actually a mistake/error/deficiency? If you can establish one way or the other, the rest of the issues resolve themselves.

But whatever, I don't care enough to keep discussing it. The rest of you go back to your flaming and whatnot. gl hf?

Personally, if I had either a wingblade or butterfly sword and they changed the skin, I would be pissed. My warrior uses a pair of Falchions (which share the same skin as Scimitars and Tribal Blades) and I bought them specifically for their skin. If they were to change that skin, I would be extreamly pissed off since it is hard to find max damage versions of that skin that are not Falchions. After over a year of people collecting weapons based on their skins, to go back and change them now would be very unfair.
i was thinking the exact same thing. changing the skin of these is not really an option. people generaly do not care about the name, only the skin. So if i buy a couple hand axes/ krytan axes/whatever but then they changed then different names to different skins alot of people would be very angry.

so the only real solution is to make all the names the same for the same skins, now no more duplicate skins with different names, would you be happy then?

this really just seems like such a minor problem (to me it isnt even a problem because it adds depth to the game) for you to get all fussy about

The only thing that really can be said is 'get used to it'. When Nightfall is out, Cantha and Tyria will be ignored equally in preference of Elona.
